Making Castille Soap

904291_616880558342043_72661308_owith LauraJo Smole
Monday, May 20, 2013
6:00pm until 8:00pm
at Flora Roja Community Acupuncture, 119 Wall Street, Eureka Springs, Arkansas 72632

This is a great beginning project to learning the art of soap-making. Castille soap is prized for it’s moisturizing properties and this soap will have all it’s natural vegetable glycerin which will help keep your skin moist all day.

Crock-Pot soap making is simple and safe. No trying to heat and keep ingredients at specific temperatures. No spattering. And the soap is safe (ph neutral) when you pour it into your mold. No alkaloid burns. Ever. You can use this soap later to make laundry soap or shampoo.

You will leave with about 36 oz of soap (that’s 9 4oz bars – about $45 work of soap if you bought it by the bar).

This is a vegan soap. If you bring Organic Olive Oil, it will be an organic product as well.

When you enroll, you will receive a sheet explaining the process and what you need to bring with you.

To attend and make soap – $20 (total of 10 students) – your spotbwill be reserved when you drop off your advance payment at Casa Roja.
To attend and watch (you will get all the handouts and stuff) – $10

There will be one scholarship spot for someone to help the instructor carry supplies in and out of the classroom. This involves helping the instructor set up and clean up.

Michele Woodward

MicheleWoodwardMichele Woodward, M.A. is the founder and co – visionary of The Gentle Healing Place and the host of the Blog Talk Radio show, The Gentle Healing Place featuring the Psychic Trio. The show grew to have 75,000 listeners and Michele is now seeking new venues with larger audiences. She is running a campaign to raise money for air time http://igg.me/p/352498/x/2233030 . Please visit the site and see what it is all about.

Michele started as a musician and singer/ songwriter, playing guitar, piano, harp, and accordion, performing as early as 11 years old. She eventually won a scholarship and earned a degree at Dick Grove School of Music. She also studied Theatre Arts at Every Woman’s Village and University of Judaism.

In 1981 she started Outlandish Gypsy designing and manufacturing hats, bags and women’s accessories, retailing them domestically and exporting them worldwide. In 1989 she started the non – profit organization Wandering Minstrels, whose vision was to perform for schools, nursing homes, prisons, and shut – ins who otherwise would not have access to the healing power of music. During this time Michele earned a Master’s Degree in Human Behavior and Counseling from National University and California Lutheran University. She then completed 2 years with Americorps as a Counselor and a Case – manager, working with the homeless, veterans, and the mentally disabled. She was then hired by a non – profit organization ,Turning Point Foundation as a Case -manager for the homeless mentally disabled and veterans and worked with them for 9 years. She also counseled High School students and was a substitute teacher for Elementary, High School , Counselor for re – entry students and Instructor for Community College. She also managed to raise four children and is the grandmother of four grandchildren.

When Michele moved from California to Arizona in 2003, she had two goals in mind. To move away from traditional mental health care, transitioning from allopathic health care to a hollistic approach by exploring alternative modalities of healing and to find an enviroment to facilitate healing with love, laughter and joy. Michele was disenchanted with traditional mental health treatments and the inability to be compassionate and loving to people in crisis. After reading Dr. Hunter Patch Adam’s Books, she was both inspired and validated that by connecting with people thru laughter, compassion and kindness could open the soul and heal the heart. Michele followed the next logical step by becoming a clown and joining Tester’s Jesters Balloon Twisters and performed at local events and businesses. In 2008 she went to Romania with the Geshundheit Institute’s Global Outreach ( founded by Dr. Hunter Patch Adams) and clowned for orphanages, hospitals, and worked with homeless teens. Proving “it’s never too late to have a happy childhood”, she and her clown family founded Clowns4Humanity based out of Holland , to try and promote using clowning as a healing tool.

After Michele moved to Arizona she consciously embraced her gift of clairvoyance and psychic awareness and integrated it into her Counseling with the use of the Tarot. Her ability to read Tarot organically evolved to become a tool to not only Counsel but to facilitate positive self discovery. The opportunity for Blog Talk Radio presented itself and Michele took this as a way to reach more people. She invited Jim and Lia to help out and the “Psychic Trio” was born.

Michele had long envisioned herself creating a healing retreat. Through a dream , the name “The Gentle Healing Place” was given to her. After that, all it took was talking about the name and the vision on the air with Jim and Lia and the Gentle Healing Place has taken on a life of its own.

Today Michele still operates Outlandish Gypsy, does Psychic Readings by private appointment or Keen. She also travels as a visiting reader at healing centers and metaphysical venues when the opportunity arises. She now resides in Hot Springs Arkansas and is writing a book. She continues to get The Gentle Healing Place back on the air and is manifesting The Gentle Healing Place Retreat. You can visit the website at www.thegentlehealingplace.com and Michele can be reached @ 520-203-3186 or 520-203-3186 PO BOX 2094, Hot Springs AR 71914

“WHEN YOU DONATE A BRA, YOU GIVE A FORMER SLAVE A JOB. IT IS THAT SIMPLE.”
“We work alongside safe houses around the world that rescue women from sex trafficking and provide rehabilitation services. Your donation helps survivors of human trafficking make a living selling used clothing while they recover and build their new life.
We accept gently used bras of all sizes and styles, including sports bras, nursing bras, and camisoles. We ask that you do not buy new bras to donate, and please consider a financial contribution instead if you don’t have used bras to donate at this time.” http://freethegirls.org/

Community Sacred Fire

Sunday March 17th 5pm Chez Melissa, 503,CR241, Eureka Springs

Another way to celebrate the solstice! We’ll begin at 5.00pm and break for a potluck at 6.30, so there’ll be two openings for making offerings – at 5.00pm and 7.00pm, and those who need to leave early can do so without breaking up the party….bring a fold-up chair, and music , stories, jokes…the optional offerings will be provided, and as the weather forecasts rain, we’ll have our large tarp set up for shelter….
