Alexa Pittenger

I have been studying health and healing practices for over 35 years. Since 1990, I have specialized in both hands-on massage/bodywork modalities and energy work to facilitate greater ease within your mind-body-spirit system.

Currently, I am nationally certified in massage and bodywork, state licensed master massage therapist, member of the AMTA, Touch For Health Instructor, Hospice volunteer and a FEMA Community Emergency Response Team volunteer. My hope for 2013 is to bring the Massage in Schools program to Eureka Springs.

I love reflexology which I feel is whole body work through the feet and became interested in how the feet ”talk” which i call Toe Readings…fun and insightful.

Although I do not offer many spa services, I encourage you to consider adding a facial to your session for that special pampering relaxation a facial provides.

Since 2005, I have offered Digestive Health services which include digestive capacity assessments, lymphatic decongestion, colon hydrotherapy and other wellness supporting sessions. I especially like the Ion Foot Bath for a quick energizing and detoxing session.

I am a certified Quantum Feedback practitioner and love to use flower essences, therapeutic grade essential oils and tuning forks in my sessions.

I work by appointment daily. Call             479 253 9208      . If I don’t answer, I am with a client so please leave a message with your preferred date and time and your intention for your session and i will get back to you as soon as I can.

i also offer couples’ massage sessions. I work with several talented massage therapists so we can usually accomodate your schedule with enough notice.

Martha Nichols-Ketchum

Martha Nichols-KetchumMartha Nichols-Ketchum grew up in southern Minnesota, and has lived in seven different states in her adult life. She began her career as a biomedical engineer, and has worked as an engineer in hospitals, factories and consulting firms. In 2002, a family member’s illness piqued Martha’s interest in natural healing. She began studying traditional naturopathy at Clayton College of Natural Health, and began taking her family to receive massage therapy and reflexology.
Their health improved, and Martha became a believer in the power of bodywork to aid in maintaining health and well-being.
In 2005, Martha and her family discovered Eureka Springs, and in 2006 she left her engineering consulting work to become a massage therapist. Since graduating from Northwest Arkansas School of Massage in May 2006, she has received additional education in Reflexology, Applied Kinesiology, Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Healing Touch. She completed her doctorate degree in naturopathy in 2008. Martha spent six years in Eureka Springs, as owner of Ancient Paths Holistic Massage. She relocated to Fayetteville in August 2012 and is currently working as a therapist at Massage Matters, located inside the Washington Regional Center for Exercise four days a week. In
addition, Martha offers mobile massage therapy in the Fayetteville/Rogers area.

Essential oil and high blood pressure

Essential oil and high blood pressure (hypertension) in aromatherapy

People that suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) need to monitor their blood pressure regularly, since various health problems, like angina, strokes and thrombosis as well as arteriosclerosis, may be caused by this condition.

Gentle massage using essential oils in aromatherapy can have a most beneficial effect on high blood pressure, yet there are certain oils not to use during massage when suffering from hypertension.

Essential oils to be avoided by people suffering from high blood pressure

Hyssop (contains pinocamphone)
Rosemary (very stimulating)
Sage (contains thujone)
Thyme (hypertensive – increase blood pressure)

Essential oils that can be beneficial in massage for people suffering from hypertension

Clary sage
Lavender
Marjoram
Melissa
Ylang-ylang
